mavelle cuts the final strands of web away from kreeg | tucks her knife back into the sheath | mavelle gives kreeg and the half-elf woman a onceover | she looks for wounds/effects of poison | "are you well, little fellow? can you walk?"
ooc: checking for injury/poison - heal (9), knowledge - nature (11), survival (12)
to kreeg and the half-elf woman, mavelle says "i'm taking you two above decks. the big, daft lizard can hold off the spiders while we make our exit."
to baham, mavelle says: "don't linger. we've done our rescue. that's what we came to do. let's get out of here. banwyck's miracle elixir won't be protecting us much longer."
mavelle retrieves her spear | "up, up, up. i know you're not feeling well, but we need to move, quickly. these spiders are everywhere."
ooc: mavelle keeps the spear ready, in case any spiders followed her down or are waiting for her to come back up

The cabin doors, carved in the elaborate sweeping lines favored by the elves, swung open and shut with the rhythm of the waves that rocked the slowly, sinking vessel – and from those doors, spiders skittered forth. More of the creatures crawled up from the grating of green-tinged metal over the main hatch. Handfuls scuttled out of the shadows beneath the stairs. In a matter of moments, the creatures coalesced, forming a terrifying carpet of spindly legs, baleful eyes and gnashing mandible that dripped with rivulets of sickly, translucent venom. The swarm of spiders swept across the deck moving with an almost liquid fluidity. They pursued Klangwhyrr with a hateful intent, but could not catch him. Despite his seemingly slow and lumbering gait, the automaton stayed just ahead of them. He plodded forward. The sound of his passage was like a dull drumbeat on the deck of polished elven wood.
At one point, a single spider came within reach and sprang. That creature latched onto the automaton and bit, but its stiletto-like fangs could not penetrate the grey stone that circled Klangwhyrr’s midsection.
With a negligent swat of his over-sized hand, the automaton sent the creature spinning end-over-end where it crashed into its cohorts. Shaking off the stun of the blow, the spider re-joined the swarm and chased after Klangwhyrr, once more.
Turned his helmeted head, Klangwhyrr assessed the oncoming horde of drow-bred spiders. For the third time, he checked his lifeline; giving it a quick tug and, then, inspecting the length girded about his hips. Stepping over the railing, he placed one massive foot on the mooring line that tied the elven vessel to the pirate ship. It creaked in protest, fraying slightly under his enormous, armored bulk, but did not snap. Slowly and carefully, Klangwhyrr began the precarious crossing back - despite his size and awkward, mechanical movements, the balance and poise he demonstrated was entirely unexpected.
----------
OOC: Last round, Klangwhrr arrived at AC15. In this round, Klangwhyrr will to tight-rope walk back to the pirate ship, stopping at AB18. I would prefer to take 20 or take 10 – but being pursued by spiders will probably require a roll. Applicable skills are: Balance (4) and Perform (2)....or Escape Artist (4).
Klangwhyrr will hold his attack, again, until the spiders are on the mooring line. When a significant population are on the line, he will cut it (Rope - one inch diameter, Hardness: 0, Hit Points: 2).
