Kreeg, you awaken in a bit of panic and confusion. Your vision is slightly obscured by thin, flimsy whips of...is that silver hair? Whatever it is, its wrapped in front of your eyes and...mm,..urffph...around your head?? And why can't you move your arms?? Your legs...?? No matter how much you squirm or fight, you come to quickly realize that you are not only wrapped in some sort of ...cocoon...or something...you are several feet off the floor. The wooden floor? Well, mostly, though you can make out a lot more of these silver strands covering...just about everything here in the hold. Wait. Hold?? What is it that you last remember? The ship. You went aboard to help investigate. There wasn't anything there. The Captain said there was nothing to worry about. It was adrift, but... Wait. What's that chittering sound? Is there something moving around out there? ....a lot of somethings?? And at this point, several fist-sized spiders crawl into view, scurrying about. OOC: You are bound with both legs together, your left arm to your side and your right bent at the elbow with your hand on your chest. (Escape Artist Check: 18) Squirming seems to have loosened the hold on your right hand somewhat from the sticky strands. Tag. You're it.

*singing softly to himself*
The itsy bitsy spider climed up the mizzen mast... Actually those things were pretty huge.
Down came the rain and washed the spider out. More like it was raining blood.
Out came the sun and dried up all the rain. Hmm, really wish I could cast light...
The itsy bitsy spider climbed up the mast again. OK there's got to be a way out of this...maybe I can put those things to sleep.
OOC: Try to cast Lullaby if any of the spiders get within 10 ft.

With a little bit of squirming that immediately draws the attention of three of the large spiders, the gnome's murmured song has noticable affect and all three of the advancing arachnids litterally wobble and shift, then drop down onto their bellies, legs folded up around them.

Wow, that worked way better than I expected...
I will try to slip out my shortsword or dagger to cut off the webbing, then sneak quietly out of the hold. Wait, first look around for other survivors (or treasure) then sneak quietly out of the hold.

Sadly, while Kreeg feels a momentary thrill of victory with his impressive casting, he quickly learns the agony of defeat when his further plans are foiled by the simple fact that he can only move his right hand slightly, and most of his forearm, not at all.
While the gnome can still hear the chittering movement of spiders nearby, they are not SO near that he fears for his immediate safety. However, what he DOES hear (SPOT check : 18) makes him take pause.
*THWWUMP*!
Several feet to his right, also bound to the wall, he notices another figure struggles against the very same type of bindings he's dealing with, himself.
...and it seems that a few of the spiders might just be noticing the movement as well.

*PSST* Hey you over there...if you can hear me, try not to wiggle too much, or else you wind up as spider food. I've stunned a few of them, but they are everywhere. Who knew spiders could swim, eh? I mean who ever heard of a spider infestation in a ship's hold? Dark cave, basement of a scary mansion, sure, but the belly of a ship? Outrageous. Hopefully you're some sort of brutish fellow who can rip thru the webs and get us out of here...please.

*PSST* Hey Friend, I noticed you're not very talkative. That's OK, actions speak louder than words in situations like these, and we could certainly use some actions now. Like how about you get really angry and rip those webs and spiders to shreds eh? Or maybe you're not a brute, but a super smart wizard....got a spider climb memorized? Or maybe you're the religious type....perhaps a quick prayer to a divine power?
...something.

"Mummmmphrrrrphgrbm...Drow...rrmphllptt..." comes the slightly panicked (but definitely female) reply from the struggling figure. Her face is covered much the way Kreeg assumes his own must be, except most of her head seems wrapped in the silken threads of webbing.
As she continues to writhe, several spiders move closer and closer.
OOC: (Escape Artist roll: 14 +2 Dex = 16 Success) You basically free your right hand and forearm, and are making progress on the rest of that arm. You're pretty sure you could reach your shortsword, though you're unsure if its going to be stuck in its sheath or not since there's webbing around your torso and legs
(Spellcraft roll: 19 + 3 = 22) You have JUST enough mobility to attempt Ghost Sound, Mage Hand, and any of your Bard spells...you think.

Hmm I haven't seen any Drow, just giant spiders...you think these are controlled by drow? I've heard that drow, you know...mate with spiders. Think about that for a minute, eh? I'm not sure which parts would go where when you're doing the 10 legged mambo.
Looks like you're stuck in there pretty good. Maybe I can buy us more time to wriggle out.
OOC: I'll cast ghost sound to make it sound like there are heavy footfalls above decks. If that fails to get their attention, I'll use Silent Image to make it look like the woman is on fire.

At the noise "above" generated by Kreeg's spell, several of the small spiders break off and scatter away. (Spot Roll: natural 20) Taking in his surroundings, the gnome suddenly realizes with a start that while his last conscious memory before his current predicament was above decks on the abandoned ship, his present location, with the addition of the webbing and arachnids of immense size, is actually the cargo hold of the ship upon which he had been sailing, "The Rose Messenger". Also, (since it WAS a nat 20 ), Kreeg thinks he recognizes his conversational companion as the elven healer the ship's captain had taken on just hours before the 'Messenger had left port. The gnome hadn't made her aquaintance, but he thinks her name is Calyssia or something like that... "mmrrfph..didn't..say..srrmph saw...mrph..smmmome..Drow...." The female figure struggles against her bonds, but is less succesful than the gnome. However, she does clear some of the strands away from her face. "...mmphhpOOW. *cough* I SAID, I think it was a Drow Ship!" Just then, completely unrelated to the gnome's spell, there's a hugs *THWUMP* on the outside of the ship. Something solid has hit the hull.

*chuckling*
*with a smirk and a condescending tone* Did you say a Drow ship? Now lass, I know you're an elf and all, but I'm a Bard, we know things, and there has never been such a thing as a drow ship. The drow live underground, in caves, how would they learn how to sail? Plus they'd have to sail at night, what do the drow know about stars? Perhaps the spider poison is confusing you a bit...are you powerful enough to neutralize the poison? Ah right, you're still snug as a....well, a bug in there, sorry bad simile.
*THWUMP*
Did you hear that? It sounded like a thwump to me. The good news is we're still on The Rose, the bad news is that thwump can only mean one thing...pirates!
HEY PIRATES! BEWARE OF SPIDERS OF UNUSUAL SIZE!

The bound elven sailor scowls at the gnome from behind her bindings, one eye staring directly at him. "There was Drow writing on the cages, and in the logbook..."
She gives an exasperated sigh and continues to struggle, trying to free herself.
